Virginia Creeper Berries

This shocking berry stands ready as winter food for wildlife, especially songbirds. Though it looks like and is a cousin to the grape, sorry humans – it is poisonous for us to eat.  Virginia Creeper, a native vine, is commonly found climbing up trees (and Lilacs in this case) in moist rich woods across the U.S.  Enjoy seeing this fall fruit and soon empty red stems.
