Burst of color

CalliandraIn dire need to see green and growing things, Andre and I took a field trip today to the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory today.  Above you will see one of our favorite flowers Calliandra emarginata, also known as Fairy Duster or Puffball.  For those of your Latin lovers out there remember Calli– means beautiful and -andra refers to male flower part also known as the stamen.  In effect it is a sphere of over 100 stamens that creates this beautiful effect.

If this winter has you down I highly recommend a visit, there even plenty of places for young kids to play.  For more information see link attached above.
