When the roller-coaster ride of life seems to have no brakes and I turn into a snappish monster, the young one God has blessed me with, says “Mom, let’s go on a hike.” I nod and wrangle it into my schedule like a dentist appointment, “Okay, I have from 3 to 4:30.”
Silly me. Silly slow-to-learn me. As we walk, my soul is transformed…with each step I return to myself. My senses appear. The brakes have been applied. I have found my much needed soul rest. I realize how much I really need this. Certainly you need soul rest too. Your road may be different, but I encourage you to find your road and step upon it often.

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,
for my hope is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
On God rests my salvation and my glory;
my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
Psalm 62:5-7
