Capture the sparkle

You know the morning, just last week. You and your neighbor greeted each other with nods and closed mouthed smiles after finding yourselves outside in your fuzzy pj’s, camera in hand trying to capture the picturesque ice crystals covering every surface.  If you are like me, you just couldn’t seem to capture how awesome it was (the ice crystals not the pj’s). The glistening was there when you took the photo, but the camera just didn’t seem to translate the image as your eye did.

I wondered just how many things in life are like that?

Or are they? Since our memories hold what the camera cannot even grasp. We use, love and rely on technology yet the make up of the created child of God (you!) has so much power. Do you think of how wonderfully made you are? After a while I just put the camera down and stood there breathing in God’s winter beauty.  What God revealed to me in all that sparkle is

creation is wonderful

God’s children are wonderful

you, your senses and mind, are the best camera you will ever own.

I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.

– Psalm 139:14

“Look outside!” they exclaimed as I stood in front of the kitchen sink trying to get a handle on a weekend load of dishes. Hands warm and sudsy, I crank my neck because straight ahead I only get white, white, white. There encased in blobs of ice, I see the rain chain covered thick. I had always wanted one, but this is my first gutter-less winter. I stepped on the slippery porch to see close. Ravished by this ice creation, the dishes seem easier now.
